Not too long ago I wrote everything with a cheap Bic ballpoint. You the kind; 20 pens for a few dollars or euro. Worked perfectly for me and I never would have considered buying anything more expensive.

My First Fountain Pen

However…. (you knew there was going to be a however right??) a few years ago I bought my first fountain pen. Well technically not the first as I used to have a fountain pen in school if I remember correctly. But my first pen as an adult. It was a Kaweco sport in the color pink.

Kaweco perfect beginner fountain pen

Kaweco is a German brand and their fountain pens are really affordable. For around € 20,- to € 25,- you can buy a really good fountain pen. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money as I wasn’t sure I would even like it. So it seemed a good idea to start small.

It was instant love. Kaweco sports comes with cartridges although you can also use converters. A converter is great if you want to be able to add any kind of ink color into your pen. I changed my cartridges now to a converter but I wrote with regular cartridges for years. Works great plus it’s easier to use when you’re traveling.
